“Too long”

Song Info

There is a fear, here somewhere

You know I’ll have to lie

One mistake??? Maybe it was mine

Now that fear lies down to die

I love you, you said ‘goodbye’

No one to hear or talk to

I asked “How do you feel?”

And “I’ll always be here for you”

I could tell myself ‘nothing is wrong’

But I don’t believe it

I wrote words on a page

Sealed the letter and thought ‘I’ll just leave it’

Look at me, look at my eyes

Now you know everything’s wrong

This is me, this is my heart

And “it lasted too long”

That’s her excuse

So unbelievable

So what’s the use?

When I don’t believe you

‘It’s not you, it’s me’ and all those end of relationship cliches.  ‘It lasted too long’, was something someone actually said to me when ending a relationship.  It’s kind of a cop-out.

I was kinda inspired by Alexander O’Neal’s ‘A Broken heart can mend’ which is one of the most beautiful songs. “Too Long”, however, is just a filler on an other wise interesting album.
