Alone in a nightclub

Song Info

I’ve never felt so old before

I’ve never felt so cold before

I’ve never felt so alone

I’ve never wanted so much to go home

The music is wrong

There ain’t no beat

It’s no kinda song

It’s got no kinda heat

Chorus

In a nightclub alone

With a drink for a friend

In a nightclub alone

In a night that just won’t end

In a nightclub alone

With a drink for a friend

Alone in a nightclub

And a night that just won’t end

I’ve never felt so bored before

I’ve never been so drawn to the door

I’ve never felt so tired

I’ve never felt so undesired

Tonight this is wrong

I can’t dance with nobody but you

You didn’t come along what am I to do?

We’d hit our mid-30s and started to look back more than forward, as we all do I suppose. This track was us wondering why, although we still feel young, things don’t feel like they did. Nightclubs are for the young ‘uns aren’t they?

During the production of the album I thought it would be a good idea to add some spacial effects. The track fades in with the sound of people in a crowded room. I think it added to the whole statement, sort of.
