Song Info

You’re who you want to be

What about me?

Can’t tell why it happened to me

Too blind to see!

This time I’m sure it’s real

How I feel

Now I’m here to help you through

I love you

Feeling alive doesn’t mean you are

I’m all alone just like before

I’m sorry that I need you

That’s nothing new

I’m sorry that I love you

It’s nothing new

Goodbye to love, kindness has gone

Love you too much for us to belong

Feeling like I’ve never gone too far

End with love and hope for more

Don’t keep yourself alive for me

That’s the key

Moving on, start a new

Though I love you

I used to play the intro to this song as a kind of warm up before going into writing stuff.  I remember the tune to the other song I used to play over and over but I forget the title. We never got round to recording it. Anyway, ‘alive’ was a bit weird for a while and ended up on Fear 2 because everything I was doing at that time, looking for a direction ended up on there.  I revisited it again a year later and re-recorded it, gave the chorus a jaunty 3/4 to 2/4 twist and it finally sounded the way I wanted it to.  I gave it the catchy title ‘Alive ‘96’ and it went on the ‘Vicious Sky EP’.
