Song Info

Feels like I’m stuck in a movie

But it’s Groundhog Day

Everyday get up and hit the ground running

It’s always the same way

Pushing so hard, so fast

Something’s bound to break

Burning the candle at both ends

A little too much for me to take

Twenty-five-eight that’s how my life is

Running in the rat race

Quickly getting no place

Twenty-five hours every single day

In the rat race always running

But you never get away

No matter where you go

They’ll always come and seek

25 hours 8 days a week

Feels like I’m in a revolving door

Always going around

Taking money with the left, giving it out with the right

Try to keep hold of a pound

The sun comes up in the morning

And goes down at night (so I’m told)

What goes on in-between I ain’t to sure

I’ll have to put the brakes on

Before I get too old

Main Instrument : Roland E-500

Written in : Concord

Written after a few hours trying to program the drum machine on my Roland E-500, which didn’t really have a drum machine to speak of.  I looped a two bar phrase and played a phased piano over the top and the entire song wrote itself.  After thinking it wasn’t up to much, I recorded it, left it for a while and went back.  It sounded a lot better after I forgot how simple the whole thing was after it was padded out with some strings and a bass line.  Along with ‘Another bad decision’, ‘Neon Town’ and ‘Summer Made Sense’, it’s one of my favourites on the album.
